Water Features You Hear a Fountain Before You See It
A fountain is the only thing we build that you hear before you see. It covers traffic noise, it gives a courtyard a center, and it is the reason people sit outside in a small yard that has nothing else going on.
We build them, plumb them and wire them ourselves, which matters more here than on most jobs: a water feature is masonry, plumbing and electrical in the same small structure, and it is the seam between those trades where leaks come from.

The fire and water feature we built for a Mount Pleasant wellness center is the upper end of that range: masonry, plumbing and a gas hookup in one structure, designed to give their clients somewhere calming to sit.
Poured Concrete, Not Block
This is the part worth understanding before you compare quotes.
When we build a custom fountain we pour solid concrete, then apply the finish on top — tile, stucco, tabby or whatever suits the house.
Fountains built from CMU block tend to have leakage problems, or more maintenance on the waterproofing membrane that is doing the work of holding water in. Block is faster and cheaper to build. A poured basin is the thing that is still holding water in ten years.
What It Takes to Keep One
Less than people fear. Cleaning it out once a year is the maintenance on our fountains.
That is the honest answer for a well-built feature on a proper basin. The horror stories people have heard almost always come back to a leaking structure rather than to fountains being inherently demanding.
